A City Church Event
Flipping through the channels last night, the local Christian station had two gentlemen talking about a community-wide interchurch event next weekend. Given my interest in the citywide church, my curiosity was naturally piqued.
Pastor Shane Warren of First Assembly West Monroe was talking with Dr Michael Walker, local dentist and one of the organizers of the event, discussing the details and strategic importance of this conference and community prayer service. The theme is "What Matters Now," and since it's Super Bowl weekend, the event is called "Super Soul Weekend"...yeah, not its best selling point in my opinion, but nonetheless. Sponsored by Community Prayer Partners, the conference is free and open to the public with no registration required.
On Friday, Feb 1 from 7-9pm and Saturday, Feb 2 from 9am-12pm, Steve & Debbie Wilson of Marriage Matters Now will be speaking at Parkview Baptist Church, with worship lead by songwriter, recording artist and First West contemporary worship pastor, Jonathan Wiggins.
On Sunday, Feb 3 from 2-3:30pm, the community prayer service will be held at the Monroe Civic Center auditorium. Author and evangelist Tommy Tenney will speak for 20-30 minutes, with the rest of the time devoted to prayer along the theme of "What Matters Now."
